CHILDREN’S YOGA for FOCUS AND RELAXATION
Welcome to yoga for children! Whether you have lots of questions about kids yoga, or just want to get some basic information on what happens in a typical class, you came to the right place. I am happy to introduce you to childrens yoga and answer any questions you might have.
So..... let's get started!
When kids first begin a yoga class, I familiarize them with the concept of yoga. I explain that yoga means being aware of how you act and react to the things that happen during your day. It's also about learning to watch your reactions, and use yoga tools to calm your body, mind and spirit. We practice different exercises or games that help grow a child's understanding of these three important parts within themselves.
Exercises include breathing techniques, stretching, simple yoga poses, songs that use body movement and games. As growing humans, kids are just beginning to learn how their bodies move, and are continually adjusting to the environment around them. Yoga gives them a way to gain body balance and improve their overall coordination and focus. During class, kids are shown how to increase awareness of their breath and the way their emotions emerge throughout the day. The exercises help to coordinate the mind and body, and kids become more grounded and centered.
The results are amazing with kids who start at such a young age- their energy becomes more focused, and they become much better at dealing with emotional fluctuations and challenges. Kids yoga is one of the best gifts you can give your child!
